Fragrant Lemon Flowers

My garden change my mood and it always inspires me. Seeing the birds, the produce and the blooms truly makes my day happy. Have you ever wondered how a lemon flower looks like? I have a lemon tree and its about three feet tall and it bears fruit already.  About several weeks ago, flowers started to bloom in my lemon tree so; I took this photo. The blossoms begin to grow in winter and bloom in full in spring and summer. That is the reason why, I have been seeing these blooms because its springtime now. As you can see, the flower is white with purple base. There are 5 petals  in each flower and it smells good.

I will post the photo of the tiny fruit that comes out from this flower on my next post. My garden smells good because of the blooms of my 3 citrus trees.

Geologic Hazard: Sinkholes

Last year, I remember that there were two sinkhole incidents happened in Florida. It was big news at that time but, it was immediately off the news for no one was hurt. Sinkholes are common here in Florida. I was thinking about us so; I always pay attention if there are cracks in our property. Thank God that there was none and so far, it never occurred nearby our neighborhood. What happened in Tampa in Feb 28 was a different story. Jeff Bush, 28 was swallowed by the sinkhole while he was asleep. His brother Jeremy Bush tried to help him but, because it was too deep, they can't reach to him.

Sinkholes are geologic hazards and can cause extensive damage to structures such as houses, roads and to prevent this from happening is very hard because they just appear from nowhere.

It is scary in fact after the sinkhole incident in Florida, Pennsylvania sinkhole follows and this time, in the property of Doris Jenkins in Bethlehem Township.

 

Sinkholes are common where the rock below the land surface is limestone. If there are carbonate rocks, salt beds, or rocks that can naturally be dissolved by circulating ground water and as the rock dissolves, spaces and caverns develop underground. Sinkholes are found all over the world. If you Google it and watch the images of sinkholes, you will be overwhelmed as to the number of incidents all over the world.

Massive Meteor Hits Russia

Absolutely this is not a movie. This is for real. A big burst of fire in the sky caught on video below. You probably saw it on TV today (Feb.15, 2013) and the loud thundering sound caught on smart phones, surveillance camera and because of the technology advancement that we have in this generation, spectacular and horrific sight as this one caught everyone in the world by surprise. A meteor weighing 11 tons at supersonic speed hits Russia. According to the news, the speed of the meteor is 33,000 mph and when it hit the ground, it created a 20 ft wide crater. Thank God that there was no reported casualty but, hundreds of people were injured from shattered glasses.

You probably heard that there is an asteroid called Asteriod 2012 DA14 which will make the closest recorded pass from the Earth today as well. The meteor that hits Russia has no connection according to the scientists reported on the news.
 

A meteoroid is a particle of debris in the Solar System. A meteor is the visible streak of light from a meteoroid which is heated as it enters the Earth's atmosphere. When I was a child, we call it shooting star or falling star. It will become a meteorite when it reaches the ground and survives impact.

Well, old folks have the hunch that this is the sign of the end of the world. If it is, what can we do? Let us continue to appreciate our time in this world by Respecting others and Let us Love One Another. Stay safe everyone!

My Destiny by Katharine Mcphee

Did you watch the second season of SMASH this week? If you missed it, you should mark your calendar for next week's episode and .... onward because this show is thrilling and full of superb talents in acting and the music is jaw-dropping (wink). Katharine Mcphee is one of my favorite lead characters in SMASH. I remember her as a contestant in 2006 of the Fox reality show American Idol. She was my favorite but became the runner up while Taylor Hicks was named American Idol in season 5. Anyway, here’s one of her beautiful songs that I love to listen.

First Sunset of February

I grabbed my Samsung camera when I saw the sky turns red orange. I was sitting by the gazebo in our backyard and waiting for the sunset. I love to go to the Indian River and capture a good shot but, the temperature on that day was chilly so; I stayed here and took this. What do you think?  

I wish there's no cable wire in there. Anyway, I love this area in our backyard. There are so many birds here infact, we have frequent visitors :-) the woodpecker, cardinals and quail. Awesome huh?

By the Beach

We live nearby the beach but, it's been weeks that we have not visited Cocoa. We were very busy for the holiday. On the first week of January, we were caught up with a minor problem with our renter. She moved with no payment for a week and did not give us a notice. We were relieved really. The condo was vacant for 4 days, someone moved on the 13th. Glad that we were done cleaning and re-painting the condo before the viewing. And today, is a movie Monday. Boy, I am so glad! Have you seen the new Les Miserables?

Anyway, we will be heading to the beach any day this week. I miss walking on the sand and enjoying the sea breeze. I have a new DSLR and never tried it. This week is the biggest test for my photography prowess.

With these pictures, I am only using my Blackberry phone and no special feature whatsoever. I still think it was alright. What do you think?

Monkey Print Tees

I got this shirt with monkey print for FREE in exchange of an honest review. It was sent in the old address that we have so; the new renter didn't bother to send it back or send it to me. I happen to pass by the neighborhood and she handed me the package. Better late than never huh?

The size fits me well and the fabric of this shirt is very soft. This is a promotional shirt and the company has only white color available for review. It would be awesome if there are other available colors and I could have gotten a green or orange. The material is not wrinkle-free as you see in this photo and it's a bit messy. I hope the company will use the fabric that's wrinkle resistant. Overall, I am happy because I got the product, it is free and the fitting is perfect.
