Blockhouse Beach at PAF Base in Florida

About 20 minutes away from our place, we have few beaches that we can choose to go to. We were trying to explore further down South towards the Satellite Beach. As we drove down the South Atlantic Avenue, we saw quiet a few cars parked on the parking lot so; we decided to go and look at this place.  Blockhouse Beach is clean and a nice beach to hang out. ,

Hubby enjoyed walking along the shoreline barefoot while I was having a comfortable siesta on my beach chair and taking some photos. If you are in Orlando vacationing, come to the Space Coast. The beach is just an hour away.

Walking Down the Shoreline at Cocoa Beach

It was a scorcher this week so; my husband and I decided to check out the beach after sunset. It was 6:00 PM when we head to Cocoa Beach and we were surprised to know that the parking fee was lifted off. We went in and thought we will not bring our beach chairs. We decided to just walk by the shore. I actually brought my two-piece if in case I'm tempted to swim. There were a lot of people who did their exercise, jogging and running along the shoreline. Some were picking up seashells.

It was already sunset and beach goers started to pack-up their things, ready to head home. We stayed there for two hours just walking along the shoreline and enjoying the sea breeze. The sea water is so cool when it touches our feet. Hubby is so white LOL and I am the opposite. The water is tempting but, I did not swim.

The Cocoa Beach Pier was crowded at that time. There were quite a few who are fishing while most of them are enjoying their beer at the Tiki Bar. Hubby and I thought that having a condo by the beach must be cool to have. Access to the beach is a walking distance. The sunrise here is really cool. One day, we will be here to catch the sunrise.

That is all for now folks. If you happen to visit Orlando for Disney/Universal Studio visits, check out Cocoa Beach area. This place is about an hour drive from Orlando.

Water Sports Activity on A Sunday

We stayed on the outdoor yesterday. We went as far as the South Atlantic almost to the Satellite Beach. We have our beach chairs set up and just enjoying the breeze from the Atlantic ocean. I did not swim because the heat was a scorcher. After two hours, hubby and I decided to go to the mall and shop a little bit. We head back home and relax. After sundown, we went back to the beach and this time, we went to Cocoa Beach and stayed there up to 8PM.

While driving by the neighborhood by the river and canal that heads out to the sea, hubby and I thought that buying a jet ski is reasonable. We live 5 minutes away by the Indian River and on a Sunday, water sports activity is truly busy down the river and the beach. Some families went out for boating, jet skiing, fishing, water gliding, canoeing, kayaking and many more. Now, hubby is thinking to buy a jet ski, I love the idea for sure.

By the Beach

We live nearby the beach but, it's been weeks that we have not visited Cocoa. We were very busy for the holiday. On the first week of January, we were caught up with a minor problem with our renter. She moved with no payment for a week and did not give us a notice. We were relieved really. The condo was vacant for 4 days, someone moved on the 13th. Glad that we were done cleaning and re-painting the condo before the viewing. And today, is a movie Monday. Boy, I am so glad! Have you seen the new Les Miserables?

Anyway, we will be heading to the beach any day this week. I miss walking on the sand and enjoying the sea breeze. I have a new DSLR and never tried it. This week is the biggest test for my photography prowess.

With these pictures, I am only using my Blackberry phone and no special feature whatsoever. I still think it was alright. What do you think?

I can't wait to use my DSLR and take some good shots by the beach. Thanks for stopping by and please visit here next time.

Tropical Storm Isaac Heads to New Orleans

I have been to New Orleans and boy, this place has not fully recovered from the devastation brought by Hurricane Katrina and in few hours, Tropical Storm Isaac will directly hit this place. What a coincidence because exactly 7 years ago ( Aug 29, 2005), Hurricane Katrina hits hard New Orleans.

The threat of TS Isaac grows by the minute and I hope the people living in the coastal areas of Alabama, Mississippi and Louisiana take the warning seriously.

I saw the news just a minute ago showing HardRock Biloxi sign which says "We are open and Rooms Available". The Beach Boulevard area in Biloxi is not the safest place to check in especially when TS Isaac is heading that way.

The house of my late father-in-law was one of the houses which was completely destroyed during Hurricane Katrina. It was a scary situation but, thank God, there was no one in the house. They went to Mobil Alabama.

All our relatives in Mississippi are already bracing for the TS Isaac. My sis-in-law lived near the beach so; she told us that she will be going to her sister who lives inland.

Anyway, I hope the storm will weaken and that everyone will be safe.

Chester M. McPhearson, Jr. Pier in Ocean Springs Mississippi

Hello Travel Tuesday hoppers. Thanks for the comments last week, I enjoyed reading them. Today, I would like to show you the view of the Gulf Coast. I took these photos while we were at Chester M. McPhearson, Jr. Pier in Ocean Springs Mississippi. According to my husband, he was the mayor in this city at one time and year's ago, he own a hardware store in the middle of the town.
That's me feeding the birds at sunset. Hubby and I love going on the beach which is just 5 minutes or less from the house.

There are so many birds here and people would come by to feed them. Birds and animals are protected so; no one is allowed to hurt them and definitely, no hunting in this area.

This beach is open for public and it is Free.

This is located in Beach Boulevard in the city of Ocean Springs right off the Highway 90. Oh, the beach is few miles long so; if you drive down the Gulf Coast, you would see this amazing view too.

We came here at the Pier to go fishing and crabbing. Sometimes, we move to the harbor.

That's hubby looking on the Bay of Biloxi and that building is the Isle Hotel.

There was a damage on this Pier during Hurricane Katrina so; they build them back that is why, it looks so new.

We pass by here every morning too right after I logged out from work. I work in the casino at night (graveyard shift) and by 7 am we pass here on our way home. A good area to see the sunset, sunrise and just have a picnic.

Swimming in Cocoa Beach

I lived in Florida for 4 years now but, I never tried swimming downn the beach. This is Cocoa Beach, noted for many shark attacks. The beach is less than an hour drive from where we live, my husband and I often hang out here.I am totally scared with sharks and that's the reason why I won't go swimming. Shallow reasoning huh? Oh I dont swim in the river too, there are gators lurking in there too, funny but, true. Swimming pool? Oh yeah, that's the safe place to swim.

Fun Activities

I am so hooked on blogging for the past days and I am enjoying it especially when blogging tasks kept pouring in. Opportunity aside, I was enjoying posting most of our travels in Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana and Florida. Basically, those are the only four states which my husband and I were together traveling. We are planning to do cruising but most of the time, we cancel it at the last minute. Almost everyday, we travel in short distance to enjoy the beauty of the beach and the beautiful community in Orlando. These two pictures in particular were taken in Mississippi. We live in the Gulf Coast area so, pictures of beaches will always be the the subject of my photography. Roadtrips here heading to New Orleans, Louisiana. Now, I am missing the beignets of cafe Du Monde. What a big sigh!

Relaxing Time

While we live in Mississippi, relaxing time is when we go to the beach or visit the hotel/casino in the area. We sometimes just sit in one of the benches there with our over the counter take-out lunch, life is easier. Here in Orlando, we did the same thing. When we want a quite time, we drive down Cocoa Beach and just hang out there enjoying the cool breeze. I love taking pictures so, I enjoyed this type of activity. What's yours?
