Java Chip Frappuccino Ice Cream: Starbucks Coffee

Before I doze off to sleep, let me share one of my favorite ice cream flavors, Java Chip Frappuccino by Starbucks Coffee. Lately, I noticed that I am craving for ice cream more frequently. This is my third in one week. Aside from this flavor, I like rocky road so; what's yours?

Eat ice cream and satisfy your cravings but, not too much okay ( Wink)? Thank you for reading my blog and see you around.

National Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Every one of us have heard the idioms: Prevention is better than Cure.

October is an interesting month I should say because activities such as: the holy rosary month falls in October; Octoberfest for the greatest beer festival; thrilling Halloween which everyone are excited to celebrate and last but not the least, the National Breast Cancer Awareness – all events fall in the month of October.

I have quite a few notifications about National Breast Cancer Awareness and while reading their emails, I encountered the word Cruciferous for the first time. I learned that these are vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, cress, bok choy, broccoli and other similar green leafy vegetables.

Cruciferous is from the New Latin word Cruciferae and it means, cross-bearing from which the four petals resemble a cross. It is considered to be a healthy food and they are high in vitamin C and soluble fibre. It has multiple nutrients and phytochemicals with potential anticancer properties. According to preventcancer.org, “new research shows that as many as one-third of all cancer deaths are linked to diet and physical activity”.

So; to prevent the risk of cancer, we should start reducing our dietary fat intake and add a serving of fruits and vegetables especially cruciferous vegies to our daily diet.

Delicious Desserts

OMG! Look at this tiramisu custard which is so deliciously tempting! I love desserts but, I am picky and tiramisu is just one of my favorites. I like any type of layered dessert too as well as any flavored custards. No wonder that by the looks of this picture, I am drooling for one already. If you are curious about this dessert, visit the link for information on how to prepare this for your own family. My husband love this type of dessert too aside from eating crackers with light cheese and pepper jack cheese as his comfort food. He can't live a day without cheese and milk. Well, for me as long as the food taste great and I am loving it, I can eat over and over again. Desserts are always a good thing right? In fact, I am getting one for me right now! Just check out the links for more desserts and recipes.

Food Craving

I was sick and I was hungry! When I check out my pantry, I know what to prepare. I had a bad headache for a week and I was off from my PC for days. It's hard to open my PC if I had a migraine plus alternating with rhinitis, ahhh it was agonizing. I woke up so hungry today because I lost my appetite for days. I was craving for "Binignit", it's a local food which the main ingredients are: plantain banana, coco milk and sweet potato. I did satisfy my craving with my home cooked binignit!

I'm humbled with all the blessings that I have. I miss the comfort food which I enjoyed back home. When we are away from home, we will miss the food---part of the culture. The only thing that you can do is to make it. Too much of a good thing makes us take for granted simple stuff around, right? Anyway, this is my entry for letter B. Hope you like it everyone!
