10 Tips to Make Your Travel Easier and Safer

Are you planning a great vacation outside of the country? Take note of these tips on how to make your travel easier and safer.

1. When traveling abroad, make sure that you have a valid passport; you sign it and fill in the emergency information page.

2. Always leave copies of your itineraries as well as the passport data page and visa to your family and friends so that; if there is an emergency, you can easily be contacted.

3. This is very important that you must comply before you travel abroad. You must check your overseas medical insurance coverage. Make an inquiry whether your policy applies overseas. You can ask them further if your policy covers emergency expenses such as medical evacuation. You MUST consider having a supplemental insurance if in case your medical insurance coverage does not cover it.

4. Do not just travel without learning the important laws and local condition of the country. Make sure that you are well informed because while in a foreign country, you are subject to its laws.

5. At the airport, DO NOT leave unattended luggage in public areas and no matter what, DO NOT accept packages from strangers.

6. Please avoid being a target of crime so; take extra precaution at all times. Do not wear extravagant jewelries and DO NOT carry excessive amounts of money

7. Travel light and if possible, get the handy kick scooters. Scooters are very helpful in maneuvering especially when you are in the airport; it saves time and your baggage will be lighter.

8. Make sure that you are up to date with your gate number. Information changes abruptly so; while at the airport, make sure that you check the flight information board at all times.

9. Keep your credit cards, passport, money, ID's in a safe place in your purse or carry on.

10. Last but not the least, have fun and make lasting memories. Do not forget to take photographs of the places you visited. Have a wonderful vacation!

African Grey as a Pet

Oh my goodness, I started checking for the prices on African Grey and they vary according to where they came from. The Cameroon is the most expensive at $950 down to Red Bellie at $350. Dang! African Grey is expensive.
African Greys are not only the best of talking birds but also very highly intelligent.  Their ability is to mimic the human voice as well as the sounds in their environment. Though African Grey is expensive as a pet, it is well worth it knowing that their longevity is about 50 to 60 years  according to the World Parrot Trust.

African Grey parrots are excellent pets because they are intelligent. They require time and commitment by their owners to provide interaction and constant attention. As you can see in the photo above, the bird has toys so he won't get bored.

If you can afford it, get yourself an African Grey parrot and make sure you have the time to teach him the cool tricks and vocabulary.

Brush Fire on SR 528

From time to time, we go to Orlando to check our rentals. It's just less than an hour drive but, we don't go there often. Anyway, it was rush hour so; instead of routing Colonial Drive, we choose the 528 to avoid the traffic. The sky signaled for a bad storm coming in fact, lightning was terrifying. Before we reach the first toll booth, we saw a thick smoke at a far distance. We thought there was a bad accident.

Then as we get closer, we realized that it was a brush fire and it just started. We saw flames.

This is the first time that I saw a brush fire in Florida. It was scary!

In split second, the brush fire ignited. According to the news, the fire was about 3 acres. We saw firetrucks but, it was difficult to access. The good thing was that, a big storm is coming and it helped put out the fire!

My guess was, this fire could have started with lightning strike. No confirmation yet!

The Busy Buzzing Bee

It was raining earlier today. I had my coffee and doughnut at the gazebo. Listening to the chirping of the birds is what I like to do in the morning. When I am lounging at the backyard, I always have my iPad and my handy Samsung camera with me if in case there are interesting subjects to capture. Just like this one, an early morning worker!
photo wildflowers5_zpse732ba39.jpgSuch a beautiful thing. From the hustle and bustle of life, we need to stop a bit and see the beauty around us. Today, try something different like going to the beach and walk barefoot on the sand. Enjoy the wind brushes your hair or just take an afternoon snack with your family at the back porch. Enjoy the essence of life and shrugged that worries for few hours. Have a nice Monday everyone.

Love Affair : Warren Beatty and Annette Bening

Remember this movie? An ex-football star Mike Gambril (Warren Beatty) meets Terry McKay (Annette Bening) on a flight to Sydney. The plane was forced to land on a small island. Mike and Terry were both engaged to other people but, they became romantic on board the ship. The ship was sent to take the passengers of the plane to a bigger island. They agreed to meet in New York after three months just to see if the attraction is for real. What happened was, one shows up, the other doesn't. Awwww... you should watch it!

I remember this movie. A special friend gave me a CD as a keepsake and I watch this movie over and over again.

I like the dress of  Annette Bening (Terry) while Katharine Hepburn (Aunt Ginny) was playing  the piano. I remember the kids singing the song "I will" and I love the view where Ginny lives. Why is it that movies have perfect characters and perfect location? Well, they're not perfect actually but, the love ... is so pure and ... perfect.

Flowers for me on Mother's Day

Did you know that carnation flower is scientifically known as Dianthus caryophyllus which means "flower of love" or "flower of the gods".  I was really wondering that for the last two years, the church choose Carnation to give to all women in the church for Mother's Day. This flower is revered for centuries and one of the world's oldest cultivated flowers. The carnation is appreciated for its ruffled appearance, clove-like scent, and extended blooming period. See its beauty up close. I got a carnation from the church. After the mass, women are given carnation.

My husband does not like giving flowers even if he knows that I could melt for having it LOL. On Mother's Day, he surprised me with this bouquet of mixed flowers.

My Mother's Day is spent with my husband at home. We decided not to go out for sure; all the restaurants are full. Hubby decided to cook a special meal for both of us. How about yours? I hope you had a wonderful day with your family.

Turtle on the Road

This is not the first time that I saw turtles on the road in our neighborhood or in Florida for that matter. Motorists usually stopped and let this precious creature pass by. Even when we were in Mississippi, one time a motorist stop on the side of the busy road while others tried to help the traffic and pick up a huge turtle on the road. It stopped in the middle of the road and hid on its shell probably nervous LOL. Good thing it happened on a country road where everyone is not really in a hurry. I just admire people who have the compassion to animals like this one. CUTE!

As you can see, this turtle is not walking slow LOL. He runs!~ See the glide? That's a huge step hahaha. It took me 3 shots only and he is off to the other side of the road. That was really quick! Now, who says turtles are slow LOL ?

Beyond the fence is the Space Coast Regional Airport ... hmmm ... I wonder if he has a flight to catch? LOL

Few cars pass this area that is why; I got the chance to take these photos. In fact, there were only us and one car which was ahead of us. It is exciting to see animals on the wild.  Thanks for stopping by.
