Happy Fourth of July! I would like to share this song to all of us who enjoyed the Gift of FREEDOM and LIBERTY which this country has given us!
(
This is a poem by Katharine Lee Bates, first appeared in print in The Congregationalist, a weekly journal, on July 4, 1895. She revised the lyrics in 1904 and again in 1913- source:kids.niehs.nih.gov)O beautiful for spacious skies,
For amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties
Above the fruited plain!
America! America!
God shed His grace on thee,
And crown thy good with brotherhood
From sea to shining sea!
O beautiful for pilgrim feet
Whose stern impassion'd stress
A thoroughfare for freedom beat
Across the wilderness.
